Mackenzie and Amy were best friends. Until Amy was brutally murdered.
Since
then, Mac’s life has been turned upside down. She is being haunted by

Lupine syndrome—also known as the werewolf virus—is on
the rise across the country. Many of the infected try to hide their
symptoms, but bloodlust is not easy to control.
Wanting
desperately to put an end to her nightmares, Mac decides to investigate
Amy’s murder herself. She discovers secrets lurking in the shadows of
Hemlock, secrets about Amy’s boyfriend, Jason, her good pal Kyle, and
especially her late best friend. Mac is thrown into a maelstrom of
violence and betrayal that puts her life at risk.
Kathleen
Peacock’s thrilling novel is the first in the Hemlock trilogy, a
spellbinding urban fantasy series filled with provocative questions
about prejudice, trust, lies, and love.
My thoughts on Hemlock So Far:           My first book for the #boutofbooks challenge this week is Hemlock. I got to around page 210 last night and realized that this book really has me thinking. So far it is different than the other teen werewolf books that I have read.
I am enjoying that it is darker, The characters are incredibly flawed , especially the main character who is emotionally damaged from her childhood from her father. Her best friend Amy has just been murdered by a werewolf and the whole group of friends are now torn apart on what has happened. Along with the fact that there are now a group of Trackers in her town to hunt the werewolves and Kyle, Mac and Jason all react in different ways to these events and it's tearing them apart.
The main character is overall very feisty, admirable in how she stands up for her friends and an emotionally driven character. This causes her to get in a lot of trouble physically as well. But she is also on the brink of tears at times barely able to keep it all together. Losing all of her friends in different ways, so suddenly is really taking a toll on her.

Love books that make you think! Happy reading!
